From the
Editor
Well, this newsletter is a
little late but we have been really busy here in
The normal summer activities
continue to keep us busy. Mike always
has lots of outdoor activity to keep him busy.
The swimming pool alone takes lots of time as the trees which surround
it drop lots of leaves, acorns, etc., which need to be taken out. The pool cleaner needs to be cleaned daily
and the chemicals checked and added as needed.
Of course, there is yard work as well.
He has started working on
getting the RV ready to hopefully camp with Karen, Mark, and Paige before
school starts. Then we plan to head to
southwest
We encourage all of our
friends to make plans to attend the Roosevelt School Reunion. The registration form is in the News Section
below. Print it off, complete it, and
mail it in. Plan to be there to enjoy a
lot of visiting and catching up on old times.
Mike is really looking forward to it since this is 50 years since he
graduated. He hopes many of his
classmates make an effort to be there.

the Squirrel Lair
A LITTLE COMMON SENSE FROM AN OLD COWBOY
Your fences need to be
horse-high, pig-tight and bull-strong.
Keep skunks and bankers at a
distance.
Life is simpler when you
plow around the stump.
A bumble bee is considerably
faster than a John Deere tractor.
Words that soak into your
ears are whispered… not yelled.
Meanness don’t jes’ happen overnight.
Forgive your enemies; it
messes up their heads.
Do not corner something that
you know is meaner than you.
It don’t take a very big
person to carry a grudge.
You cannot unsay a cruel
word.
Every path has a few
puddles.
When you wallow with pigs,
expect to get dirty.
The best sermons are lived,
not preached.
Most of the stuff people
worry about ain’t never gonna
happen anyway.
Don’t judge folks by their
relatives.
Remember that silence is
sometimes the best answer.
Live a good, honorable life…
Then when you get older and think back, you’ll enjoy it a second time.
Don‘t interfere with somethin’ that ain’t bothering
you none.
Timing has a lot to do with
the outcome of a Rain dance.
If you find yourself in a
hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin’.
Sometimes you get, and
sometimes you get got.
The biggest troublemaker
you’ll probably ever have to deal with watches you from the mirror every mornin’.
Always drink upstream from
the herd.
Good judgment comes from
experience, and a lotta that comes from bad judgment.
Lettin’ the cat outta the bag is
a whole lot easier than puttin’ it back in.
If you get to thinkin’ you’re a person of some influence, try orderin’ somebody else’s dog around.
Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply.
Speak kindly. Leave the rest to
God.
Don’t pick a fight with an
old man. If he is too old to fight,
he’ll just kill you.
"Most times, it just
gets down to common sense."

Alumni Website
We have renewed the account that Wanda
Jackson had set up at the photo sharing website, picturetrail.com for the
Roosevelt Alumni: http://www.picturetrail.com/rooseveltalumni. She had posted many pictures from past
reunions, class panels, and old schools buildings along with write ups about
them. We thought you might find these
interesting if you haven’t visited this site in the past.

It’s Just Like Riding a Bike
Ever hear that phrase
"It's just like riding a bike?"
It turns out riding a bike isn't actually all that easy.
Take this bike, for
example. It looks like an ordinary
bicycle but with one tiny difference.
You may think you can ride it, but I guarantee you're wrong.

Humor
Second Opinion
Ever since I was a child, I've always had a fear of someone under my bed at night,
so I finally went to a shrink and told him "I've got problems. Every time I go to bed I think there's
somebody under my bed!! I'm scared. I think I'm going crazy."
"Just put yourself in
my hands for one year", said the shrink.
"Come talk to me three times a week and we should be able to get
rid of those fears."
"How much do you
charge, I asked?"
"Eighty dollars per
visit", replied the doctor.
"I'll sleep on
it", I said.
Six months later the doctor
met me on the street. "Why didn't
you come to see me about those fears you were having?" he asked.
"Well, eighty bucks a
visit, three times a week for a year, is $12,480.00. A bartender cured me
for $10.00. I was so happy to have saved
all that money that I went and bought me a new pickup truck."
"Is that so?" With a bit of an attitude he said, "And
how, may I ask, did a Bartender cure you?"
"He told me to cut the
legs off the bed. Ain't
nobody under there now."
FORGET THE SHRINKS. HAVE A DRINK & TALK TO A BARTENDER! IT'S ALWAYS BETTER TO GET A SECOND OPINION.

AND GOD LOOKED DOWN
Most seniors never get
enough exercise: In His wisdom God
decreed that seniors become forgetful so they would have to search for their
glasses, keys and other things thus doing more walking.
And God looked down and saw
that it was good.
Then God saw there was
another need. In His wisdom He made
seniors lose coordination so they would drop things requiring them to bend,
reach and stretch.
And God looked down and saw
that it was good.
Then God considered the
function of bladders and decided seniors would have additional calls of nature
requiring more trips to the bathroom, thus providing more exercise.
God looked down and saw that
it was good.
So if you find as you age,
you are getting up and down more, remember it is God's will. It is all in your best interest even though
you mutter under your breath.
Nine Important Facts To
Remember As We Grow Older
#9 Death is the number 1
killer in the world.
#8 Life is sexually
transmitted.
#7 Good health is merely the
slowest possible rate at which one can die.
#6 Men have 2
motivations: hunger and hanky panky, and they can't tell them apart. If you see a gleam in his eyes, make him a
sandwich.
#5 Give a person a fish and
you feed them for a day. Teach a person
to use the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks, months, maybe
years......
#4 “Health Nuts” are going
to feel stupid someday, lying in the hospital, dying of nothing.
#3 All of us could take a
lesson from the weather. It pays no
attention to criticism.
#2 In the 1960's, people
took acid to make the world weird. Now
the world IS weird, and people take Prozac to make it normal.
Food for
Thought
How to create a social state by Saul Alinsky
There are eight levels of
control that must be obtained before you are able to create a social
state. The first is the most important.
1) Healthcare– Control
healthcare and you control the people.
2) Poverty –
Increase the Poverty level as high as possible, poor people are easier to control
and will not fight back if you are providing everything for them to live.
3) Debt – Increase
the debt to an unsustainable level. .That way you are able to increase taxes,
and this will produce more poverty.
4) Gun Control– Remove
the ability to defend themselves from the Government. That way you are able to
create a police state.
5) Welfare – Take
control of every aspect of their lives (Food, Housing, and Income)
6) Education –
Take control of what people read and listen to – take control of what children
learn in school.
7) Religion –
Remove the belief in the God from the Government and schools
8) Class Warfare –
Divide the people into the wealthy and the poor. This will cause more
discontent and it will be easier to take (Tax) the wealthy with the support of
the poor.
Does any of this sound like
what is happening to the
Alinsky merely simplified Vladimir Lenin's original scheme
for world conquest by communism, under Russian rule. Stalin described his converts
as "Useful Idiots."
The Useful Idiots have destroyed every nation in which they have seized
power and control. It is presently happening at an alarming rate in the
If people can read this
and still say everything is just fine…they are “useful idiots.
