We’ve finally seen a few
days that might make us think of Spring.
I so hope this winter is over.
I’m so tired of the bitter cold and the sporadic snow and ice. I’m one who always claims to enjoy all
seasons--and I usually do, but this winter has just about been too much of a
good thing. I admit that I usually,
especially enjoy winter as a time to “kick back” and let the world go by. However, the events of this winter, with all
the work in the house, have been far from that.
Oh, don’t get me wrong the mess we’ve been in for the last 3 months has
been well worth the effort, but we just missed a little down time that we
always look forward to. We are just a
matter of a few hours from having the rooms that have been used for storage as
we worked on the other ones recovered and “back in service.” This week we have made giant strides getting
that done. Probably more importantly is
that in the process we did a thorough cleaning and rearranging of the storage
area off of Paige’s bedroom. That has
been needed for a couple of years. When
you have items to store and no place to store them, it becomes obvious that
some things have to go to make room for others.
It’s so good to have that all behind us.
We had a big day at Karen
and Mark’s yesterday getting a security system installed in their home. It was a huge job and took all day. Fortunately, all is up and running with only
a few issues that aren’t as they should be, but should be fixed by day’s
end. I know Karen will enjoy the
security of having a system that will add to their safety while at home and
security while away. They elected to not
install any security cameras at this time, but the system was equipped with all
that is needed for that short of the cameras.
It will also allow them to monitor and control the system via their
smart phones. That is a really nice
feature.
I’m running a little behind
this morning. I need to get this wound
up and get cleaned up and ready for the water treatment guy to show up to
upgrade our water treatment system. It
seems that there is always something later, greater, and more expensive that is
available to improve the quality of one’s water. We have plenty of water, but without proper
treatment, it is not potable. Our well
has been contaminated since it was drilled in 1978 and has needed treatment to
make it safe to drink. Additionally, we
have a little iron, sulfur, and acid that must be controlled. I wish we had access to city water and sewer,
but we don’t. However, given the dire
water conditions in
I better now take a trek
upstairs and get ready to face the rest of the day.

Phyllis Stockton sent me (Kate) the following about the fire:
I saw the documentary of the Babbs Switch Fire also. Thought you might be interested in the rest of
the story. I have some Daily Oklahoman newspapers in regard to this story
that were published December 23, 24, 25, 1999. I believe it was also published
simultaneously in the Hobart Democrat Chief. Of course, I remember when
the lady came back from
Now that he had what he thought was irrefutable proof that Grace
Reynolds was an imposter, Ranson Hancock (owner of the Democrat
Chief) felt honor bound to show the evidence to Louis Edens (the father). This was told by his son Joe Hancock who took
over the newspaper from his father. Mr. Eden asked Mr. Hancock to
withhold the story until after his wife (the mother) died. She really believed this woman was her
daughter. The information was not published in the
He is proud of his father's decision, which Joe says,
"reflects a humanity that's been lost in modern journalism." "What good would have come from
publishing the story?" He believes "that Mary Elizabeth Edens
was not taken from the fire site that night but was in all probability burned
with 35 other good Kiowa County Folks."
Thought you might be interested in later
developments. I took this all from the actual newspaper.

Recall Notice
(This is totally
amazing. Talk about clever and to the
point! Never heard it put quite like
this before.)
The maker of all human beings (GOD) is recalling all units manufactured,
regardless of make or year, due to a serious defect in the primary and central
component of the heart. This is due to a
malfunction in the original prototype units code named Adam and Eve, resulting
in the reproduction of the same defect in all subsequent units. This defect has been identified as
"Sub-sequential Internal Non-morality," more commonly known as
S.I.N., as it is primarily expressed.
Some of the symptoms include:
1. Loss of direction
2. Foul vocal emissions
3. Amnesia of origin
4. Lack of peace and joy
5. Selfish or violent behavior
6. Depression or confusion
7. Fearfulness
8. Idolatry
9. Rebellion
The Manufacturer, who is neither liable nor at fault for this defect, is
providing factory-authorized repair and service free of charge to correct this
defect.
The Repair Technician, JESUS, has most generously offered to bear the entire
burden and has paid the price of the staggering cost for these repairs. There is no additional fee required. The number to call for repair in all areas
is: P-R-A-Y-E-R. Once connected, please
upload your burden of SIN through the REPENTANCE procedure. Next, download ATONEMENT & FORGIVENESS
from the Repair Technician, Jesus, into the heart component.
No matter how big or small the SIN defect is, Jesus will replace it with:
1. Love
2. Joy
3. Peace
4. Patience
5. Kindness
6. Goodness
7. Faithfulness
8. Gentleness
9. Self control
Please see the operating manual, the B.I.B.L.E. (BEST Instructions Before
Leaving Earth) for further details on the use of these fixes.
WARNING: Continuing to operate the human
being unit without correction voids any manufacturer warranties, exposing the
unit to dangers and problems too numerous to list, and will result in the human
unit being permanently impounded. For free emergency service, call on Jesus.
DANGER: The human being units not responding
to this recall action will have to be scrapped in the furnace. The SIN defect will not be permitted to enter
Heaven so as to prevent contamination of that facility.
Thank you for your attention!
GOD
P.S.: Please assist where possible by notifying others of this important recall
notice, and you may contact the Father any time by 'Knee mail'!
Because HE Lives! Working for God on earth doesn't pay much, but His retirement
plan is out of this world!

The 3 Northerners each bought a ticket and watched as the 3 Southerners

"How are the 3 of you going to travel on one ticket", asked one of

Yankees?
"Watch and learn", answered one of the boys from the South.
When the 6 travelers boarded the train, the 3 Yankees sat down, but the 3
Southerners crammed into a bathroom together and closed the door.
Shortly after the train departed, the conductor came around to collect
tickets.
He knocked on the bathroom door and said, "Tickets please." The door
opened just a crack, and a single arm emerged with a ticket in hand. The
conductor took it and moved on.
The Yankees saw this happen and agreed it was quite a clever idea. Indeed,
so clever that they decided to do the same thing on the return trip and
save
some money.
That evening after the game, when they got to the

When they boarded the train, the 3 Northerners crammed themselves into a

There's just no way on God's green earth to explain how the Yankees won the

a great job publishing the Roosevelt News. I always look forward to it

Later, I went to school
there. One of our neighbors lost a daughter that night and assumed she
was buried in the common grave. Later she surfaced, someone had taken
her, moved out of the area and raised her as their own. I noticed her
name was listed on the Memorial Marker.
Through the years many
articles have been published about the tragedy.
Thanks for all your efforts.

Editor’s Note:
As reported in the Remembering section above, the reason the girl’s name
is listed on the Memorial Marker is that it was determined that the girl who
surfaced was really an imposter. The
little girl did die in the fire.

The best I can
figure out from what little Kathy told me from a conversation with her dad on
the phone on Thursday night is:
1. The two test on Thursday of his heart and neck arteries were fine.
2. He was really aggravated the doctor did not make it into work until
like 0730 that morning, then it took the rest of the day to get new meds
amounts and times before being released to return to the house.
3. The aggravated wait wore him out and he was a bit grumpy but mostly
tired. ;
4. His back had been hurting him some so he had taken a pain pill or
two! Those things make him really loopy! No wonder he was trying to
drink his coffee out of the jelly jar!
So, with new meds, all is good for now. Thanks for the thoughts and
prayers. Onward to the next adventure! LOL

I received this from my father-in-law today. We have been
wondering how much longer he would be driving after the stroke like symptoms he
has recently had. He explains it all in his email. That old USAF Special
Forces dude finds a way to still get around! The "no longer
driving" is one of the two most difficult things the elderly fight to
keep, but must eventually give up. Geary McDowell
Now for Phil's email:
Some of you know that I had a stroke like symptom occur last
Wednesday morning when I got up which really took me out of the human race for
a while. I couldn’t even get my pants on
by myself. Finally went to the doctor
and they didn’t know for sure what had happened either. I don't how know long it is going to be before
I can drive again. The doctors want me
to go thru a battery of physiological tests before I can get behind the wheel
again. My girls couldn't let well enough
alone so they had to ask the doctor what he thought about me driving. Of course, he said "not until we know he
is safe (lol)." I don't really
begrudge them that but I've got to act like I do or it would blow my whole
image. I don't think I'm safe right now
either so there is no reason why they should think I am. I took my three wheel bicycle to the bike shop
yesterday to get it in running order. I
just live two blocks from where I learned to ride a bicycle when I was six. It is
a big step down after 73 years to be relegated to a bicycle as my main
transportation again (ha). Fortunately
So this saga of Phil B. Arnold just rocks on and seems to never
end, but I am still alive in B.A. and wondering what the next challenge will
be. I resigned the church a couple of
weeks ago, which was a big relief but I hated to do it. However, it proved to be pretty timely since
something health wise always seems to come up to keep me out of the pulpit on a
regular basis now days. We got lucky and
got a pastor we all really like so I get fed too.
If I was still numbering these I don’t know what number this would
be, but please keep me on you prayer list.
Love you all,
Phil

DIRT ROADS
What's mainly wrong with
society today is that too many Dirt Roads have been paved.
There's not a problem in
We wouldn't have near the
trouble with our educational system if our kids got their exercise walking a Dirt
Road with other kids, from whom they learn how to get along.
There was less crime in our
streets before they were paved.
Criminals didn't walk two dusty miles to rob or rape, if they knew
they'd be welcomed by 5 barking dogs and a double barrel shotgun. And there were no drive by shootings.
Our values were better when
our roads were worse! People did not
worship their cars more than their kids, and motorists were more courteous,
they didn't tailgate by riding the bumper or the guy in front would choke you
with dust and bust your windshield with rocks.
Dirt roads taught patience.
Dirt Roads were
environmentally friendly, you didn't hop in your car for a quart of milk --
you walked to the barn for your milk. For your mail, you walked to the
mail box.
What if it rained and the
Dirt Road got washed out? That was the best part, then you stayed home
and had some family time, roasted marshmallows and popped popcorn and pony rode
on Daddy's shoulders and learned how to make prettier quilts than anybody.
At the end of Dirt Roads,
you soon learned that bad words tasted like soap.
Most paved roads lead to
trouble - Dirt roads more likely lead to a fishing creek or a swimming hole.
At the end of a Dirt Road,
the only time we even locked our car was in August, because if we didn't, some
neighbor would fill it with too much zucchini.
At the end of a Dirt Road,
there was always extra springtime income, from when city dudes would get stuck,
you'd have to hitch up a team and pull them out. Usually you got a dollar...always
you got a new friend....at the end of a Dirt Road!!
